Curly hair has but one mortal enemy — frizz. While some choose to embrace it, others have searched far and wide for a solution.
Certified cool dad Boyce Clark started looking for a frizz-fighting solution after he and his 12-year-old daughter Alden grew weary of dealing with her hair’s reaction to the Louisiana humidity.
Alden lucked out, her dad (who is also a scientist with a P.h.D. in biogeochemistry) started to research her hair and learned that frizz is caused by irregularities in the hair’s structure that allows moisture into the hair and it causes it to swell. Dr. Clark spent an entire year testing out formulas before coming up with what would become the Lubricity Labs Penetrate/Encapsulate Treatment.
(We’re pretty sure Alden will never have another bad hair day, like EVER.)
Lubricity Labs, the homegrown line of anti-frizz hair care products, is expanding in July, rolling out of seven new products, including three sold only in salons. The move comes after a huge—and unexpected—growth surge for the startup, founded in 2016 by biogeochemist Dr. Boyce Clark, who developed a highly effective, all-natural, two-step smoothing system to help his frizzy-haired, teenage daughter combat her chronic bad hair days.
Sure, you may be strategizing your warm-weather wardrobe or working on a clear skin plan before the mercury rises — but one area that needs equal attention is your hair. Summer is the most carefree of seasons, but it’s also the time of year when most of us want to do the least with our mane and still look good.
What is a single father to do when his young daughter is being bullied because of her coarse, frizzy hair? Well, if that father has a PhD in Biogeochemistry, he creates an innovative solution that tames her frizz, without sacrificing her health with use of toxic ingredients and damaging heat.
